Chicken Devilled Recipe
Chicken Devilled is one of the most popular Sri Lankan spicy dishes, loved for its bold flavors and fiery taste. To make Sri Lankan–style Chicken Devilled, start by cutting boneless chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Marinate the chicken with chili powder, turmeric, salt, pepper, soy sauce, vinegar, and a little chili sauce for at least 20 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken until golden and cooked through, then set aside.
In the same pan, sauté sliced onions, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, green chilies, and capsicum. Add tomato sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and vinegar to create the signature sweet, sour, and spicy devilled sauce.
Toss the fried chicken back into the pan and mix well so every piece is coated. Cook for a few minutes until glossy and aromatic. Serve hot with fried rice, paratha, or bread for a perfect Sri Lankan meal.
